What Is Ergonomics and Why Is it Important?

What Is Ergonomics and Why Is it Important?

It’s October, which means it’s officially National Ergonomics Month! What is ergonomics and why is it so important? Ergonomics refers to the study of how people interact with their work environments each day. It can include how a workstation is set up, the health and wellness of employees, and the safety of all in the office. With poor office ergonomics, businesses can suffer as their employees can become injured, sick, or less productive. Learn more about the importance of ergonomics and the different ergonomics programs offered at E3 Consulting.

The Importance of Ergonomics

Ergonomics is important to help keep employees safe and healthy so that they can perform their responsibilities. The goal of implementing ergonomics is to improve comfort and productivity so that businesses can continue to grow and succeed. At E3, we develop sustainable and cost-effective programs that allow for this to happen. Read more about our various services below!

Ergonomics Programs at E3

We are proud to be able to help businesses create productive work environments. Some of our programs include our online pre-evaluation survey, virtual ergonomic evaluations, and onsite evaluations.

Online Pre-Evaluation Survey

Our ergonomic programs are designed around the needs of individual employees and companies as a whole. We can accommodate those working in an office, at home, or remote. Our online pre-evaluation survey identifies ergonomic problems in the workplace and what each employee needs to perform their tasks. Based on the information documented, we will make suggestions on ways to reduce discomfort as well as set-up a virtual evaluation or an onsite one-on-one evaluation.

Virtual Ergonomic Evaluations

Virtual ergonomic evaluations consist of a 20-30 minute interview with one of our senior consultants. During the interview, we will discuss workstation setup, work techniques, and habits, the proper ways to adjust the height of the user’s chair, keyboard, mouse, and more.

Onsite One-On-One Ergonomic Evaluations

E3’s onsite one-on-one ergonomic evaluations range from 30-45 minutes. The evaluation consists of observing an employee’s habits and techniques at work, recommending ways to improve poor habits and techniques, suggesting product recommendations, and more.

Ergonomic Lab/Testing Centers

Our team can help develop and coordinate the design of a company’s Ergonomic Lab/Testing Center. The lab allows employees to test out pre-approved ergonomic products and furniture before they are purchased.
