How to Create a Productive Work Environment

Creating a Better Work EnvironmentEvery employer wants to have a more productive office. However, you may not realize how your company’s culture may be affecting your employees work. Doing some simple shifts in your company’s work culture and being more mindful of your actions can make a serious impact on the productivity of your employees.

5 Simple Ways to Create a More Productive Work Environment

Try some of these tips in your office to help your employees become more productive.

1. Try Walking Meetings

Sitting all day is not good for our bodies. Walking meetings are an excellent and simple way of adding activity to your everyday life. They are also more productive. Walking often helps people become more creative and find simple ways to solve problems. Also, employees will feel more relaxed while walking and more eager to share their ideas.

2. Encourage Employees to Take Breaks

Breaks have a contradictory reputation. Everyone knows that you SHOULD take breaks, but so many people rarely DO. People think that if they take a break then they are going to miss out on time when they can be productive, even though there are numerous studies that have shown that taking breaks can make employees more productive and produce quality work. Make sure that you encourage your employees to make the most of their breaks.

3. Become More Mindful and Limit Multitasking

It’s interesting how often our actions have become automatic responses and how we often do things that waste time and we don’t even realize it. Taking the time to become more mindful and present in the moment and limiting unproductive habits, such as multitasking, can greatly improve your productivity and ensure that the work that is being produced is quality work.

4. Create a Positive Work Environment

If your employees are discouraged or feel as though their work doesn’t matter, they are not going to have the positive attitude that they need to produce the best work. Make sure that you are taking the time to make sure that your employees feel appreciated. This does not simply mean office parties, but rather giving them personal compliments on their work and other personal recognition to ensure that they personally feel appreciated.

5. Promote Healthier Eating Habits

What you eat affects your work. Foods that are high in fat and simple carbohydrates can make your employees feel sluggish and tired. If your employees are constantly eating fast food for lunch, it may be time to encourage a change. You should talk to a wellness coach about doing an assessment of your employees eating habits. A wellness coach can also work with them to figure out meal plans and develop healthy eating habits.

6. Incorporate Fitness into Company Culture

Beyond just walking meetings, it is important for employees to encourage one another to reach their fitness goals. Regular physical activity boosts energy levels and helps employees be more productive during work hours. Implementing a fitness program and fun incentives can make a healthy impact on production.
